Raiders Predicted to Send Davante Adams to AFC in Blockbuster Trade

Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams was the subject of intense trade speculation throughout the offseason, which is continuing still as the regular season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 8 nears.

The reasoning behind the trade proposals and discussions between talking heads remains the same -- that Raiders are a middling team with no real solution under center, which has frustrated Adams .

In that context, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report penned a "bold trade prediction" on Saturday, August 31, in which he projects the Raiders will make a deal to move Adams at some point ahead of the NFL's November 5 trade deadline.

"Adams has played most of his career with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback," Ballentine wrote . "When he was traded to the Raiders, it was under the assumption that he'd be reunited with his college teammate Derek Carr . With Carr in New Orleans, Adams has now played with Jimmy Garoppolo , Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew is next."

Minshew is 15-22 as a starter across his five-year professional tenure and has thrown for 59 TDs against 24 INTs over that span. Although Minshew has had some moments and was 7-6 with the Indianapolis Colts last season during a Pro Bowl campaign, it is reasonable to argue that Adams' frustrations are likely to continue -- even if only sporadically -- as Minshew assumes the reins of the offense.

If the Raiders decide to move Adams, whose $25.35 million salary cap hit in 2024 might be an unnecessary financial burden on a team that isn't ready to win at a meaningful level, the New York Jets make among the most sense as a destination.

Rodgers is the quarterback there and healthy after tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of last season. He has just one year remaining on his contract, and the organization is bent on winning now.

Given the Jets' situation, as well as the long-term working relationship between Rodgers and Adams from their time with the Green Bay Packers , New York is perhaps the most logical suitor for the six-time Pro Bowl receiver.
