Ohio State Freshman WR Has Unreal Collegiate Debut

    By Cole Sullivan,

Saturday was filled with thrilling victories, underwhelming performances, and astounding play from so many new faces that debuted onto the college landscape.

The Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State Buckeyes started slow, however, went on to defeat Akron 52-6, and the storyline of the game came from the unreal performance of five-star true freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith , who was the number one wide receiver in the class of 2024 entering the year.

Smith was named one of the few starting receivers on the Buckeyes, which is extremely unprecedented for a freshman to receive at Ohio State, who is well-known for cycling wide receiver talent through the program.

He finished the game with a game-high six receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns, while averaging 15.3 average per reception.

Smith's ability to adapt to the collegiate game as quick as he did is quite astonishing. He had an early drop on the first pass of Ohio State's season in the first quarter and then never looked back after that.
