Words will never be able to describe the importance of Kalen DeBoer's first recruiting win at Alabama: Ryan Williams.

The five-star initially de-committed from the Crimson Tide when DeBoer was hired.

After listening to DeBoer's pitch, Williams locked back in.

On Saturday night, Williams displayed the electrifying ability that DeBoer and his staff yearned for.

Williams caught just two passes, but he turned those pair of receptions into 139 yards and two touchdowns.

DeBoer couldn't have been more excited with Williams' performance.

"He got that big play capability as you saw, and he's done a lot of that in practice," DeBoer said. "Big third down down the sideline. Great read by Jalen (Milroe) with the coverage he was getting, and we anticipated a possible route down the sideline in a situation like that."

DeBoer likes the connection he is seeing between his junior quarterback and freshman receiver.

"It was really cool to see those guys execute," DeBoer said. "Ryan hauling in the ball and finish. And, you know, coming across the middle on the second touchdown."

Most notably, DeBoer loved the maturity he saw from the 17-year-old.

"Just, you know, really focused and just doesn't seem like the games too fast for him," DeBoer said. "So it was impressive that a guy his age can go out there and do the things he's doing."

Williams finished his debut with two catches for 139 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Crimson Tide opened the season with a 63-0 victory.
