Could Browns Reunite With Kareem Hunt?

    By Wil Riggs,

The Cleveland Browns appear short on running backs. While starter Nick Chubb continues his rehab from a traumatic knee injury in Week 2 last season, Jerome Ford is currently penciled in as the lead back.  Pierre Strong and D’Onta Foreman are backups.

Both Foreman and Strong suffered injuries that required hospital stays in recent weeks during training camp. So, could the Browns be searching for a healthy back to play meaningful snaps and give the team a boost on offense?

Bleacher Report recently published an article naming the Browns as the potential landing spot for former Cleveland running back Kareem Hunt.

“Hunt is perhaps the most intriguing free agent running back available, even though he’s been available all offseason,” B/R writes. “The 29-year-old rejoined the Cleveland Browns following Nick Chubb’s season-ending injury in Week 2 and quickly became a noteworthy contributor.

“With Chubb on the [PUP] list … the Browns could be interested in adding another RB before the start of the regular season.”

Hunt has spent the last five seasons with the Browns. His best season in Cleveland was in 2020 when he rushed for 841 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hunt led the league in rushing as a rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017.

Hunt could be a valuable weapon both rushing and receiving for the Browns. Just as an outlet receiver for Watson, he could potentially be the cog in the machine the Browns need to keep their team moving forward.

The Browns are scheduled to play the Dallas Cowboys in the FOX NFL Game of the Week on Sunday with kickoff set for 4:35 p.m. ET.
