Syracuse HC Fran Brown Sparks Controversy With Comment Aimed At Ryan Day

Syracuse head coach Fran Brown made a bold remark towards Ohio State head coach Ryan Day Saturday evening after Kyle McCord put on a show at quarterback for the Orange in a 38-22 win over the University of Ohio .

McCord was the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes last season, and after having an underwhelming year, he entered the transfer portal and transferred to Syracuse.

In his first outing with the Orange, he completed 27-39 passes for 354 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. Maintaining a 174.2 passer rating.

Fran Brown's postgame press conference surely has been perceived in many different ways after he made an odd comment about thanking Day for letting McCord go.

“I should send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne for allowing us to get Kyle McCord.” Brown said.

Brown more than likely didn't mean anything by the comment; however, he made it seem like Day pushed out McCord to replace him, which simply wasn't the case. McCord chose to leave on his own terms and did it very early in the offseason.

Although, Ohio State moved on with transfer addition Will Howard as well as two five-star quarterbacks behind him with Julian Sayin and Air Noland . The Buckeyes dominated Akron in Week 1 52-6, and many believe they may just have the best roster in the country.
