College Football Analyst Puts Oregon on Notice After Opener

Oregon won in their opener against Idaho, but it wasn't pretty.

The Ducks unexpectedly struggled against the Vandals, and the 24-14 victory was far from decisive for the No. 3 team in the country. Oregon was a 44.5-point favorite for the matchup.

Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt sounded the alarm bells on Oregon, listing the Ducks among his "most concerning" teams.

    "Very sloppy," Klatt said.

He further emphasized his lack of faith in Oregon, leaving the Ducks off his list of the top nine teams in the country. One fan called him out, writing, "Where in the hell is Oregon?"

"Well we will see after that game tonight...Oregon was concerning Saturday," Klatt responded.

It's probably not time to hit the panic button just yet in Eugene. The Ducks racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense, and Heisman hopeful Dillon Gabriel, who transferred from Oklahoma, was sharp. Gabriel passed for 380 yards and two touchdowns, completing 41 of 49 passes.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning admitted it wasn't flawless but hopes his team learns from the unexpectedly tight matchup.

“Different than we thought it would look like,” Lanning said. “Great teams are able to to learn from tight matches. This was a tight match, and we didn't create some of the explosive plays I was hoping we could create offesively. Gave up a couple of critical plays on defense. So certainly some things to attack.”

Oregon will look to get on track next week against Boise State at home. The Broncos won their opener against Georgia Southern 56-45, so there's potential for offensive fireworks.
