The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have as much of a reason as any college football team to celebrate their 2-0 start to the season. They shocked fans across the world with their 24-21 win against the Florida State Seminoles during Week Zero in Dublin, Ireland. They followed up that performance with another dominant win against a team “College GameDay” co-host Desmond Howard claimed would ruin the Yellow Jackets' season if they could pull off the upset.

During Saturday’s preview of the Georgia Tech vs. Georgia State game, Howard suggested the Panthers had the potential to take down their in-state foe, especially after the Yellow Jacket’s big win against a top-ten team. After Tech’s 35-12 win, the program’s social media team had a little fun with Howard’s words.

“We were in Dublin last week and we saw Georgia Tech upset Florida State,” Desmond Howard said during Saturday’s broadcast of “College GameDay”. “Big win. They’re the darling of college football and all that stuff. Now, they play Georgia State. Look at Georgia State’s roster, littered with players from the Power Five schools. So, I think if Georgia Tech goes out and lays an egg, despite what they did a week ago against Florida State, even though it was earlier in the season, if they lay an egg against Georgia State, they can’t rebound. They can’t bounce back from a loss like that.”

Howard didn't go as far as to outright pick the Panthers to beat the Yellow Jackets, but he seemed more focused on analyzing how Georgia Tech would deal with a loss following Week 1 instead of a win.

If Georgia Tech can win their Week 2 matchup against the Syracuse Orange, they could be very well on their way to starting the season 4-0, with VMI on deck for Week 3. The Yellow Jackets kick off against the Orange on September 7 at noon Eastern Time on the ACC Network.
