Reid Scouts Ravens - 'We Know Who They Are'

    By Adam Schultz,

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens will get the season underway in a couple of days in a game that pits two teams that played in the AFC Championship game last season.

Given that the Chiefs managed to come away with a 17-10 win at M&T Bank Stadium, this time around, Kansas City will be at home, and head coach Andy Reid will be facing a new defensive coordinator in Zach Orr, who takes over from Mike Macdonald.

With the Chiefs having only recently played the Ravens, can Reid take anything away from the AFC Championship victory and implement it in Week 1?

“They [Ravens] didn’t play a whole lot in the preseason, their main guys,” Reid said . “But we know who they are again [Zach] Orr is coming in, he’s familiar with the whole group, he’s going to do what he does from a defensive standpoint. There’ll be some changes that take place, and it happens early in the season for the first few weeks, so you gotta be flexible on your end, and we’ll see how it goes.”

The Chiefs have a chance to lay down an early season marker as they chase a third successive Super Bowl .

Given that Kansas City won't play the Ravens again in the regular season, with a win, it can own be the tie-breaker over one of their direct challengers for the AFC crown.

Additionally, having already beaten the Ravens just two NFL games ago, the Chiefs will be looking to deliver a psychological body blow to Lamar Jackson and Co. Having lost to the Chiefs last season, if the Ravens suffer the same fate in Week 1, then doubts could creep in over whether they are good enough to usurp Patrick Mahomes and Reid.

And come playoff time, that could be a big dagger to the hearts of Baltimore.

So, there is a lot on the line in the season opener for both teams and with Reid knowing that the Ravens will want revenge, it is set up to be a colossal clash at Arrowhead Stadium.
