Season openers haven't been pleasant for LSU head coach Brian Kelly.

Following the Tigers' 27-20 defeat to the USC Trojans on Sunday night, Kelly is now 0-3 in season openers since becoming the team's head coach in 2022.

Kelly has done a solid job throughout his tenure, boasting a 20-7 record in the first two season. In 2022, he coached LSU to the SEC West Division title and led the team to victory over Purdue in the Citrus Bowl. The following year, they finished 10-3 and were victorious once again in the ReliaQuest Bowl over Wisconsin.

However, one nagging pain for Kelly has been starting seasons with victories, which he hasn't done in a while. The last time he won a season opener was in 2021, when he served as head coach for Notre Dame.

This latest defeat caused an uproar on social media from fans being heavily critical of Kelly's struggles in season openers and questioning whether he should continue as the team's head coach.

Here are some of the fans' reactions:

"LSU vs the refs again! Do we fire Brian Kelly?" one fan said .

LSU should just fire Brian Kelly now and start getting ready for 2025. The guy is a loser and cant win a big game. Im a UGA fan but these idiots are an embarrassment to the SEC. Hire Bobo from UGA PLEASE??" another fan remarked .

"fire brian kelly 3 straight losses to start the season," one fan expressed .

"Fire Brian Kelly…. 3 Years in a row lose the season opener …. What are you doing during the offseason?!?!" another fan stated .

"When will LSU fire the most overrated coach in the country? Brian Kelly was mid at Notre Dame and now he is mid at LSU 0-3 in season openers is sad," one fan said .

Kelly will need to bounce back quick to quell the fans' demands, starting with the upcoming matchup against Nicholls on Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
