Ravens at Chiefs: Lamar Jackson Vows 'Revenge!' (Like Always)

At this moment, Baltimore Ravens MVP Lamar Jackson sounds like nothing more than "The Quarterback Who Cried Wolf.''

Jackson is announcing that he is out for "revenge'' on Thursday evening when his Ravens oppose the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

And bless his heart, we're sure he means it. But as the first game of the 2024 NFL regular season approaches, we know that even in Lamar's mind, the "threat'' echoes hollowly. And why?

"Any game I play in, I feel like it's a revenge game," Jackson said this week. "I'm not just going to look at this game like a revenge game. Anybody we play, no matter if we've beaten them or lost to them in previous years, I just want to win."

And therein lies the rub, because when the Chiefs - who will host the Ravens this time around in a rematch of last season's AFC Championship Game - play Jackson?

Jackson's "I just want to win'' hasn't been enough.

Jackson is 1-4 in his career against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. So ... Maybe taking it personally would help? But nah. Lamar is insisting, in a sense, that he's about to play 17 "revenge games.''

"We have to win regular-season games to get to January," Jackson said. "Playoffs are on our mind, but at the same time, we have to win this game that's ahead of us."
