With the NFL season just days away, the New York Giants are gearing up to face an uphill battle, as recent projections suggest a challenging year ahead. According to ESPN's Mike Clay, the Giants are expected to be the league's lowest-scoring team, projecting just 307 points this season. This sobering forecast underscores the difficulties facing the Giants' offense, which is navigating significant changes and lingering uncertainties.

"The Giants' offense includes offensive tackle Andrew Thomas and rookie receiver Malik Nabers," wrote Clay. "But it's hard to find much else to get excited about here."

Clay highlights the struggles of quarterback Daniel Jones, who is aiming to bounce back from an ACL tear and justify his recent contract extension. The departure of star running back Saquon Barkley has left a significant gap, now filled by Devin Singletary . Additionally, rookie tight end Theo Johnson is seemingly set to replace the retired Darren Waller, and concerns remain over the offensive line, especially with 2022 seventh-overall pick Evan Neal no longer in a starting role . These issues have fueled low expectations for the Giants' offensive performance in 2024.

Despite these challenges, there is hope in the form of first-round pick Malik Nabers . Nabers, who is seen as the most talented wide receiver of the Daniel Jones era, is expected to play a pivotal role in revitalizing the Giants' offense. Nabers enters the season tied 4 th in Offensive Rookie of the Year predictions . He must quickly adapt to the NFL level and become a reliable target, particularly with Jones looking to recover his form. His development could be crucial in countering the low expectations set for the Giants and Jones this season.

As the Giants prepare for their season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, opening as underdogs , the pressure is on head coach Brian Daboll and his squad to defy predictions. With significant gaps to fill on both sides of the ball, the team will need its young talents like Nabers to step up and exceed expectations, offering a glimmer of optimism to Giants fans eager for a turnaround.
