The New England Patriots have seen a lot of change over the past several years, with their legendary quarterback, Tom Brady, leaving in free agency and their legendary coach, Bill Belichick, retiring.

With Jerod Mayo at the helm as a first-year head coach, things are starting to look new in New England, with rookie QB Drake Maye ushering in a new era. According to Mayo, that new era will also feature a tweak to their uniforms.

It won't be anything drastic, but it is a change that aims to bring pride to certain players on the team. The team captains, to be specific.

On Monday, Mayo announced that the team captains will officially have the "C" on their jerseys, signifying the position. This is not something that New England has featured on their jerseys during the Belichick era.

Mayo would know since he was a team captain for seven years for the Patriots under Belichick.

"Whatever happens inside the building, that's always the most important thing," Mayo said . "But I do think it's like a badge of honor. It's a badge of honor, and I think when guys do the right thing, they should be recognized for those things. It's something as small as having the captain's patch, I think it's important for those guys."

Those guys this year will be David Andrews, Ja'Whaun Bentley, Jacoby Brissett, Joe Cardona, Jabrill Peppers, and Deatrich Wise Jr., Mayo announced.
