Kevon 'Cut' Looney Impresses in Workout

The Golden State Warriors had a rough 2023-24 season. After missing the 2024 playoffs and losing Klay Thompson, many original dynasty members needed to decompress. Stephen Curry fed his championship hunger with a gold medal finish at the Paris Olympics, and Draymond Green went drinking and dancing with LeBron James. Kevon Looney leaned more on Curry's side of blowing off steam.

Photos from a recent open run display Looney as a cut, lean, screen-setting machine. At an undersized 6-9, Looney's game revolves around maximum effort and brute strength.

During the Play-In Tournament, Looney looked a little worse for wear. The undersized center had to play the bulk of the defense since Green only played 55 games. He missed most of the games due to multiple suspensions.

However, in the aforementioned photos, Looney showcased what he's worked on during the summer. Looney understands the importance of possibly earning one more long-term contract in a contract year. The Warriors center turns 29 in February.

A player of his typical build and his defense makes for a complicated future in the league.

However, thanks to the new-look Looney, the Warriors center likely added years to his career. Looney deserves credit for the defensive load he carried, as Green's behavior cost the Warriors. According to Synergy Sports, Looney's defense earned him the 73 percentile of points per possession rank, allowing only 40 percent conversion on 2-point shots.

Looney is due for a raise, but will the Warriors reward the dependable center or will he get it on the open market?.
