In Week One of the college football season, many questions were answered. Teams such as the Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes lived up to the preseason hype with dominant wins, establishing themselves as the top two ranked programs in the nation. Alabama Crimson Tide's head coach, Kalen DeBoer, demonstrated his ability to lead in Tuscaloosa with a commanding 63-0 victory over Western Kentucky.

However, the results of a couple of top-ten teams still leave questions as to whether they’re the real deal. The Oregon Ducks narrowly escaped the Idaho Vandals in a 24-14 win that was within three points in the fourth quarter. Another Big Ten championship game contender, the Michigan Wolverines, also seemed sluggish before a 17-point fourth quarter propelled them to a 30-13 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs.

The Ducks ended up sliding back four spots to No. 7, and the Wolverines dropped one spot, landing at No. 10 in the Week 2 AP top-25 college football poll . College football fans seem convinced the Wolverines are ranked too high.

“Michigan in the top 10 is madness,” Gardy posted.

“Michigan is too high by 8,” Jim Tussing wrote.

“Michigan 10? Did anyone see that game vs Fresno State! This is not a top 20 team!” Michael added.

Some fans believe the voters only ranked the Wolverines No. 10 to keep the Texas Longhorns’ visit to the Big House a top-ten matchup.

“They had to keep Michigan inside top ten so Texas can finally have a top ten win for once,” Kelsey Kane wrote.

“Keeping Michigan in the top 10, so we have a top 10 matchup this week,” another fan posted along with this meme.

“Michigan should not be top 10,” Caden Clapper added.

The lack of faith in the Wolverines from the college football community isn’t a great sign as they get set to host the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in the first top-ten matchup of the 2024 season. Both “College GameDay” and “Big Noon Kickoff” are scheduled to be in Ann Arbor on September 7 ahead of the noon ET kickoff on Fox.
