Deion Sanders Offers 6-Word Take on Top 2025 NFL Draft Prospect Travis Hunter

Perhaps no player in college football did more to help his draft stock in Week 1 than Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.

In CU’s 31-26 win over Colorado State last week, Hunter was arguably the best player on the field. He finished with seven catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns, and he allowed just two receptions for 14 yards in coverage, showing why he could potentially be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft at either position.

While seemingly everyone was raving about Hunter’s performance in the days after Colorado’s win, head coach Deion Sanders made a bold statement about his star athlete during Tuesday’s news conference.

“He is the definition of HIM,” Sanders said . “Travis Hunter…131 snaps — he showed no signs of tiring. He is who he is.”

Sanders also said there were 31 NFL scouts representing 19 different teams at Thursday’s game to see Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Most scouts and analysts believe Hunter will eventually have to pick one position and stick with it in the NFL, but Deion will likely continue to use him at both positions to maximize his value come draft time.

Hunter has shown no preference to either position, and he’s stated he thinks he could play both at a high level in the NFL.
