Eagles vs. Packers: Jordan Love Predicted to Throw for 5,000 Yards?

    By Mike Fisher,

SEPT 3 FOR THE LOVE OF ... In PFF's “ Bold predictions for all 32 NFL teams in 2024 ,” they've got Packers quarterback Jordan Love possibly throwing for 5,000 yards this year. ... and maybe we should tap the brakes.

“Making this ‘Jordan Love 5,000-yard passing season’ was tempting because that headline is slick,” they wrote before backing down to a prediction of 4,500 yards for the Packers QB, who opens Week 1 against the Eagles on Friday night.

Well, maybe. Last year, Love finished seventh in the NFL with 4,159 passing yards, with 2,150 yards in the final eight games. But simple math - and hopefully the Eagles defense - tells us that's not a formula that gets him to 5,000.

SEPT 2 IS WRIGHT RIGHT? The Philadelphia Eagles are thought by many to be the team to beat in the NFC East. If a media person feels differently ...

Is he a troll? Is he wrong? Is he right? Is he Nick Wright?

FS1 analyst Nick Wright certainly takes a colorful approach to some of his passionate opinions. But in his explaining of why he believes the Eagles will finish third in the division and miss the playoffs entirely in 2024, he does have his facts straight.

"They've lost six of the last seven games," Wright said, thinking back to the end of last year. "They had a bottom-four defense across the board in the NFL last season. They lost a future Hall-of-Famer, the leader of their team, the best player on their offense. Their coach and quarterback don't get along. ...

OK, OK. We get it. That's FS1's job. The Eagles job is to fix and overcome all of that stuff. But the facts? Wright pretty much has those right.

AUG 27 PARRIS OUT The Eagles have cut WR Parris Campbell, according to multiple reports, which seems like a move that directly correlates with the recent trade for Jahan Dotson from Washington.

Campbell has at different times been seen as a candidate to be the No. 3 wide receiver here but on cutdown day, he does not stick.

AUG 26 CUTS The Eagles on Monday afternoon released DB Parry Nickerson, OLB Julian Okwara, G Max Scharping and QB Will Grier, the former Dallas Cowboys preseason folk hero.

The Philly roster, along with those of the other 31 NFL teams, needs to get down to 53 by Tuesday afternoon.

AUG 25 BANNED FOR LIFE? Ed Kelce, father of NFL big shots Jason (just retired from the Eagles) and Travis (starring with the Chiefs), says he has been "banned for life'' from X, formerly known as Twitter, because billionaire boss Elon Musk and/or his staff is taking issue with Ed's online discussion about arms dealers and their alleged ties to X ...

Who Ed says "are free to peddle their wares on X, but I'm banned for life and they won't say why, just a generic ‘Terms Of Service’ violation," as he wrote.

AUG 11 NEW MAN No, it's not that former Broncos safety.

The Eagles have signed Caden Sterns - yes, he is a former Broncos safety and they have released just-signed linebacker Shaq Quarterman.

Caden Sterns is no Justin Simmons, the All-Pro who remains on the free agency shelf.

But Caden Sterns will have to do. At least for now.

AUG 11 LAZARD TO EAGLES? To be clear, this is a "media proposal,'' not a team proposal.

But it's floating around out there: The Philadelphia Eagles should add to a wideout room presently topped by AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith by calling the New York Jets on vet Allen Lazard.

We're not sure why the Eagles are listed as a possible landing spot for Lazard by USA Today. ... but if there is any fire beneath the smoke?

We wonder - beyond the cap savings of moving Lazard - what the Jets get out of this "proposal.'' USA Today wants Philly to trade a "late-round pick'' for Lazard. ... But maybe they should ask his buddy Aaron Rodgers ...

Would you rather have Lazard now?

Or a "late-round pick'' for a time when you might no longer even be here?
