Cowboys Fans & Dak Rank at Top in 'NFL Rudest' Survey

FRISCO — Regardless of how the team performs, the Dallas Cowboys remain the most polarizing franchise in the NFL. A lacking postseason resume over the last three decades has not changed that reality, instead it has provided more ammunition for critics and heightened the animosity toward the team.

Those negative feelings are evident in a recent survey conducted by aGamble , examining the NFL's rudest fanbases, coaches and players.

The Cowboys fans came in at number two while quarterback Dak Prescott slotted in as the perceived third-rudest quarterback. Head coach Mike McCarthy also took the honor of fifth rudest in that category.

"From tossing bottles and debris at NFL officials to boastfully bragging about their team, Dallas Cowboys fans have a reputation for unsportsmanlike behavior,"

The survey also shows the fans and Mike McCarthy having the thinnest skin while Prescott sits at third in that category among quarterbacks. Specifically regarding the fans, "bragging excessively" was described as the rudest behavior.

Of course, these results are quite arbitrary and do not point to any real truth. Sure, a fanbase will have its low moments and at a game, individuals are bound to create unpleasant experiences for others around them.

But that is not a defining quality of such an extensive group.

As for Prescott and McCarthy, there is hardly any evidence to reference about them being "rude" players and coaches. Rather, any of those low criticisms likely stem from the fans (including the Cowboys' contingent) being tired of hearing about the two in the news cycle.

Regardless of whether those narratives spawned from the minds of fans have any truth, the Cowboys will certainly need an edge heading into the hostile "Dawg Pound" Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
