Cowboys Fans Clap Back at Vet WR for Defending Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have been at the center of attention throughout the offseason. Although this franchise has been competitive in recent years, it hasn't led to a Super Bowl appearance.

For that reason, the fanbase is at odds about Prescott. Some like him while others are seemingly ready to move on. Either way, Prescott will likely play out the entire 2024 season as the Cowboys starting quarterback, assuming he doesn't suffer a serious injury.

With the buzz around Prescott at an all-time high, veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks stepped up and defended the star quarterback, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. Cooks admits he can't believe the amount of criticism Prescott receives. He also suggested everyone else on the team must improve their play to help Prescott out more.

"It's blasphemy. It's unbelievable. The guy shows up every year, year in and year out. Putting up numbers, leading his team. He can't do it all by himself. A lot of those great quarterbacks that I've been with, Tom (Brady) and Drew (Brees), don't get me wrong, they won a lot of games, won a lot of Super Bowls, but they had a lot of help around them as well, right?

"Us players around (Dak) also got to step up. So when we hear that disrespect, I take that personally and as his teammates we should take that personally, because at the end of the day, somebody has got to be able to help him get over that hump so we can go win one."

Cooks shared a strong argument as the Cowboys as a team have failed to meet expectations for several years now. However, the fanbase couldn't help but disagree with Cooks as comments flooded in pointing out Prescott's flaws.

Many of them point out Dallas' playoff loss last season to the Green Bay Packers to justify criticizing Prescott as a quarterback. They also critique Prescott's career numbers in the postseason.

In last season's playoff game against the Packers, Prescott finished with 403 passing yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 68.3 completion percentage. Here's what some fans had to say about the Cowboys' star quarterback. Some fans debate and defend Prescott as well.

"2-5 in the playoffs speaks for itself."

This Cowboys fan did his homework . Prescott is 33-10 when Dallas is favored. He's 1-10 when the Cowboys are underdogs.

"How did he show up in 2022? Set an NFL RECORD by leading the league in interceptions despite missing 5 games. THE MOST OVERRATED player in NFL history. Look at his stats vs teams with the ability to punch back? He’s a bum. All his stats in games the Cowboys are favored."

Some fans can't help but blame the defense for the Cowboys' playoff woes.

"3 of (Dak's) 5 playoff losses [the] defense couldn't stop a nose bleed."

Prescott is a veteran quarterback , after all.

"It’s been nine years of Prescott. When can we take the kid gloves off him?"

Is Prescott coddled as the Cowboys' quarterback?

"Who cares? Dak Prescott has led us to THREE STRAIGHT *embarrassing* losses to RIVALS in the playoffs. Dak is the most coddled QB in the league. Nothing's ever his fault."
