Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers Suggested as Destinations for Miami Heat Star

The Miami Heat are heading into the 2024-25 season with a lot of uncertainty surrounding their short and long-term future. Most of it has to do with Jimmy Butler and his contract situation.

Butler has been the face of the franchise since 2019 and inspired them to two NBA Finals appearances, unfortunately coming up short both times.

It is believed that Butler will seek the last big contract of his NBA career next summer, whether that be from the Heat or any other team. He will be 35.

Over the years, the Heat have shown that they are willing to part ways with superstars if they feel the timing is right.

The Brooklyn Nets have been linked with Butler in recent days. They are not the only potential destination for him though, if he were to depart Miami next summer.

Of course, out of those five, the two blockbuster moves for Butler would be Golden State and the Lakers. It is not hard to understand why the two franchises might potentially hold an interest as well.

The Warriors find themselves in a tough spot right now. They know that they have limited time to make the most of the final years of Steph Curry's prime. Yet, they have been unsuccessful in assembling a roster around him that can be considered as a title contender.

The same can be said about LeBron James and the Lakers as well, who have largely disappointed since their NBA Championship win in 2020 against the Heat.

The addition of Butler would turn either of them into contenders immediately. Of course, nobody knows what the future holds.
