The Las Vegas Raiders are set to kick off their 2024 season in just a couple of days, with their first matchup of the season coming against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon.

As expected, the Raiders will have quite the showing from their fan base in Los Angeles:

Honestly, at first glance, 62% seems like a bit less than usual. Whether it's against the Chargers or the Los Angeles Rams , the Raiders always seem to have a home-crowd advantage when they head to Los Angeles.

The Raiders have quite the fan base there, dating back to when they used to call Los Angeles their home city.

The Los Angeles Raiders played their first season in 1982 at the Los Angeles Coliseum, and that would be the stadium the team called home all the way through the 1994 season.

Issues with that stadium, as well as the promise from the city of Oakland to build 'Mt. Davis', which would give the team more luxury suites, ended up persuading the franchise to move back to Oakland. However, the Raiders accomplished a lot while in Los Angeles.

During their 13 years there, the Raiders were very competitive, making the playoffs seven times. They finished with a losing record just twice during that span, and even won the Super Bowl in 1983, which is still the last the franchise has ever won.

The Raiders had a massive cultural impact there, and developed a huge, rabid fan base. That's the reason the city still comes out to support whenever the team plays there, and Sunday's game will be another example of that.

The Raiders aren't favored in this week's game , but it should be a close one nonetheless. We'll see if they can start the 2024 season on the right foot. It should be a fun game regardless .
