NFL RedZone Fans Concerned After Scott Hanson News

NFL RedZone is set to grace televisions around the country on Sunday, September 8 as it kicks off its 16th NFL regular season.

With only days of anticipation remaining, the show's beloved host, Scott Hanson has already been celebrating and teasing fans on social media . However, a September 4 report from Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports could potentially put a damper on Sunday's proceedings.

According to McCarthy, "Hanson’s contract with NFL Media, which he signed in 2021, expires after the upcoming season."

"The high-energy host could draw lucrative offers from NFL broadcast partners such as NBC Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN or Amazon Prime Video," McCarthy wrote. "YouTube TV is also an option, as it could use Hanson’s appeal to sell more 'Sunday Ticket' subscriptions."

Naturally, some fans channeled their best Hanson-esque high-energy response to the news on social media.

"Pay the man (i can't stress this enough) WHATEVER HE WANTS," one fan commented on X.

"Nah he better stay at NFL RedZone and they better pay up. The NFL makes more than enough," a fan added .

"The witching season has arrived…They better pay him😂" said another.

For now, McCarthy did acknowledge, "Hanson leaving NFLN after 18 years seems far-fetched. But anybody who’s paid attention to the myriad talent moves in sports media would say: Never say never."

Hanson, known for his "iron bladder" during seven hours of commercial-free football on NFL Sundays, first came on the air as the show's host in 2009.
