Colorado Star Issues Warning to Nebraska Ahead of Week 2 Matchup

The Colorado Buffaloes were able to survive a scare in their Week 1 win over North Dakota State, but their schedule won't be getting any easier.

For their Week 2 matchup, they will be heading to Lincoln to take on their biggest rival, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. While there haven't been as many verbal jabs as last year, we have still seen a couple of comments made from each team here and there.

It started with a warning made by Nebraska Linebacker Mikai Gbayor earlier in the week, and now Colorado receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. is getting in on the fun. When speaking to the media on Thursday, Horn made it clear that he and the receivers were well aware of Gbayor's comments and will be ready to test him and the defense on the field.

"I’ve watched a couple of their interviews so I’m on that timing," Horn Jr. told the media. "My receivers group, we on that timing. We know what time it is."

The comments that inspired Horn's statement stem from when Gbayor told the media he plans to be extra physical, and that it will take more than one guy to slow him down. He also expressed that Colorado will not be running through them and sarcastically wished them luck in doing so.

"Hit them hard from the start," Gbayor said Tuesday. "I'm going to be running down on kickoff. You'll see me down there. They're going to need two guys to block me. I want them to know that. That's how we're coming down there.

"For another team to come in here, thinking that they're going to run through us or it's going to be sweet, good luck to them. I wish them the best."

Despite both Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule being in their second year on the job at their respective program, they have both made it clear to their teams how important this rivalry is. Something that Horn assured the media on Thursday.

"I can tell that our team is taking this rivalry real serious," Horn Jr. said. "It's a lot of history behind it and we just have to rep this CU logo that we play for. I know Nebraska is a big rivalry team and we're not about to play with them because I know they're not coming to play with us so that's really the whole team's mindset."

The Buffs got the best of Nebraska 36-14 in 2023, and there was also a chippy run-in before the game. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders took exception to Nebraska standing on Colorado's logo, and made sure to let them know. We also got to see his iconic watch flex.

As for Horn, he will be looking to build off his stellar Week 1 showing that saw him post seven catches for 198 yards and a score.

According to ESPN , Nebraska is favored by a touchdown and has a 60.4% chance of winning this one.
