The 2024 college football season began on a sour note for the Florida State Seminoles. Despite feeling overlooked in the previous season's College Football Playoff, the Seminoles entered this season with high hopes, starting ranked No. 10 in the preseason poll.

The Seminoles lost their first two games to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Boston College Eagles. To make matters worse, both games were conference games, making it very difficult for them to repeat as ACC champions and secure a spot in the playoffs.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum believes the Seminoles were overrated at the start of the season. He also feels one might be able to justify the first loss. However, the second loss at home is inexplicable.

"Part of the problem, they were overrated," Finebaum said. "I think the players just bought into it. What I don't understand is this, they dog the first game; you could explain that, maybe. You can't explain the second game at home."

The Seminoles still face a tough schedule ahead, with three games against ranked teams. Although they have a bye week this week, their next game is against Memphis, a team many believe has the potential to be the Group of Five champions and secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.

So, Florida State fans hope the Seminoles can address some of their issues during this bye week and regain the form they envisioned at the start of the season.
