Fans in Disbelief Over Slow-Mo Video of Chiefs vs. Ravens Final Play

    By Chris Phelps,

The 2024 NFL season opener was about as exciting as it could get, as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 27-20.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy were the players of the game in the win. Mahomes completed 20 of his 28 pass attempts for 291 yards and a touchdown. Worthy had two touchdowns in his first professional game as he showed off his versatility with a score on the ground and one through the air.

But it was the final play of the game that stole the spotlight.

With four seconds left, the Ravens had the ball at the Kansas City 10-yard line and needed just seven points to tie the game. Lamar Jackson threw the ball to tight end Isaiah Likely in the back of the endzone, but he landed with his toe just barely out of bounds.

The refs initially ruled the final play a touchdown, but after further review, you could see Likely's toe clearly touching the line.

A slow-motion video of the final play was posted on social media, and NFL fans couldn't believe how close it was to being a touchdown.

"This is was so close omgggg," one fan said.

    "WOW"

    "Couldn’t have been closer. Wow"

    "Wow that's nuts."

"Football is a game of inches."

    "Wowwwwwww"

The Chiefs begin their run at a Super Bowl three-peat on a high note, but it won't get any easier as they host Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. The Ravens will have to regroup but should have a much easier challenge next week against the Las Vegas Raiders.
