The Kansas City Chiefs successfully opened up their Super Bowl defense via a thrilling 27-20 win at Arrowhead Stadium against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.

The game was not decided until the very last play of the high-profile Week 1 showdown when Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely came close to scoring a touchdown that would have set Baltimore up for a game-tying kick attempt.

Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones looked back on the wild ending during the postgame press conference while also giving respect to the Ravens, who truly gave Kansas City a challenge.

“It came down to literally the end. That’s a playoff caliber team,” Jones told the media after the game, per Marleah Campbell of KCTV5 News .

As a team, the Chiefs gave up 452 total yards to the Ravens, with Jackson going off on the ground, but Kansas City held Baltimore to only 1-of-4 in the red zone.

Jones, who inked a massive five-year extension deal worth $158.75 million with the Chiefs last March, will be a focal point of Kansas City's defense again in Week 2, with Kansas City hosting Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals on September 15.
