Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson is still waiting on a phone call. The former three-time All-Pro is still unsigned and preparing himself for a job in the media as he waits.

Peterson was recently on “The Insiders” and stated he was open to signing with a playoff team if the right opportunity came along.

The question is still up in the air because I am willing to take a phone call, but I’m here with you guys right now,” Peterson said. “So I’m kind of in between both worlds right now.”

Peterson has been a highly decorated player for a long time. He is a three-time first-team All-Pro and an eight-time Pro Bowler. At this stage in his career, there is only one award he is still in search of…. The Lombardi Trophy.

“I would love to play for a contender,” Peterson said. “At this stage of my career, I’ll be going into season 14. I want to have an opportunity to feel the confetti fall on me. So that’s the end goal.

“I’ve done everything that I wanted to accomplish for myself individually, but now I want to have the ultimate team goal feeling, which is winning a Lombardi.”

While the Steelers aren’t on the cusp of a championship right now, he would be willing to pick up the phone. Adding Peterson's veteran savvy to the defensive backfield with Minkah Fitzpatrick, Donte Jackson and Joey Porter Jr. could catapult the Steelers to a top-5 defense in the league.

Right now, the Steelers are focused on their opening week game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
