Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs opened up their 2024 regular-season campaign with a Week 1 victory over reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

Mahomes and Jackson both have similar regular-season accolades at this point in their respective NFL careers, but Mahomes has absolutely dominated Jackson in head-to-head matchups.

With Thursday night's 27-20 win at Arrowhead Stadium, Mahomes is now 5-1 in head-to-head matchups against Jackson and the Ravens.

On Friday morning's episode of ESPN's Get Up , analysts discussed Mahomes as "Lamar Jackson's Kryptonite."

"The reason is comes up with the Lamar is because Lamar is the closest thing [to Mahomes] in individual accolades... What Lamar Jackson needs to do is just focus on being his best self against Patrick Mahomes," ESPN's Ryan Clark said.

Jackson put up huge numbers in the Ravens' loss, throwing for 273 yards and rushing for 122. But when it mattered most, the two-time MVP missed multiple throws in the end zone that would've given the Ravens a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds.

Mahomes finished the game with 291 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 20-28 passing.

The Chiefs will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. The Ravens will look to bounce back in a matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
