Baker Mayfield Receives Praise From Legendary QB

Baker Mayfield had the best season of his career this past season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he was able to lead them to the playoffs.

This great season has drawn some eyes to Mayfield, and one of the people that has taken notice to the Bucs field general is New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees. On a recent episode of the Jim Rome Show , the future Hall of Fame quarterback related to Mayfield about his stature.

"He kind of falls in that category of he’s in the 6-foot-and-under club, right?" Brees said. "I have this love for the guys that were kind of the undersized, underdog, chip-on-the-shoulder, right? Always something to prove, you know? He’s definitely in that category."

Brees is one of, if not the greatest "short" quarterback, as he stood at six feet tall, but was still able to deliver some of the most accurate throws ever. Mayfield was able to channel a bit of that, finishing with over 4000 passing yards for the first time in his career on his way to leading the Bucs to the second round of the playoffs.

He also comes into this season with something to prove, as he will be looking to make sure people know that his first season with his new team was not a fluke, and that he is here to stay.
