If the game against Temple is any indication, Oklahoma’s offensive line is starting to gel. While the players are all very talented, it always takes time for continuity to form on the line. Considering there are several transfers and freshmen, this was to be expected. Although, if we go by the opening game, things look to be ahead of schedule.

One of those transfers is Geirean Hatchett who came to Oklahoma from the University of Washington. He talked this week about building cohesion across the entire offensive line.

How does it feel to have a game under your belt?

Geirean: It feels good. As many of you know, I missed a lot of last year with an ankle injury so just getting out back on the field, it felt really good to just be out there and have some fun with the boys.

What have you learned about Houston so far?

Geirean: They are a big physical team up front. They’re a big 12 opponent so we’re not taking them lightly at all. I think they’re going to be a great opponent. They have a really good D-line, big guys that can move fast and work really well with their hands. So we’re just ready, preparing for that this week and excited for the opportunity.

How did it go all week, preparing to play guard and then two series in, you’re over at Center?

Geirean: I practice snapping every single day so I’m pretty used to the snapping aspect of Center. It definitely caught me off guard. No one’s expecting anybody to go down that early like it happened but I was able to adjust. I had a couple of bad snaps but after that it felt fine, it felt natural.
