The NFL kept their Week 1 rolling on Friday night with a special game in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This marked the league's debut game in Brazil and featured the Green Bay Packers facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In what turned out to be a back-and-forth contest between the two NFC teams, the Eagles ultimately secured a 34-29 victory. However, the final seconds of the game took a worrisome turn when Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love went down with an apparent injury.

With 22 seconds remaining and down by five points, the Packers began their drive from their own 16-yard line. Love quickly connected with Jayden Reed for a 33-yard gain down the sideline. On the very next play, while attempting to make a move, Love was hit high and low by two Eagles defenders, causing him to fall awkwardly to the ground.

It was a scary moment for everyone at the Neo Química Arena and for those watching at home on Peacock.

After several tense moments, Love was helped up and hobbled to the sideline with what appeared to be a lower leg injury. Backup quarterback Malik Willis stepped in, tasked with the difficult job of completing the comeback that Love had started. Unfortunately for the Packers, Willis threw an incomplete pass on his first play and was then sacked on the next, sealing the Eagles' win.

Naturally, most of the questions directed at Packers head coach Matt LaFleur in the postgame press conference centered around Love's condition.

"I don't know," LaFleur said . "We're waiting. Obviously, we're very concerned about it. We'll wait to find out when we do more tests."

The Packers entered the 2024 season with high hopes, largely because of Love and the strides he made after becoming a starter for the first time last season. He led the Packers to a 9-8 record, finishing second in the NFC North and securing a Wild Card berth.

Love's growth as a quarterback was so impressive last season that the Packers signed him to a four-year, $220 million extension this offseason.

If Love is set to miss any significant time due to the injury he sustained on Friday night, it could seriously affect the Packers' chances of competing in the NFC this season.
