The Clemson Tigers couldn't have had a worse start to the 2024 college football season. They opened their slate with a huge game against the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

However, the Tigers were thoroughly defeated, 34-3. The Bulldogs' defense completely shut down the Tigers' offense, allowing only 188 total yards gained. Still, former head coach and current "Big Noon Kickoff" Urban Meyer analyst has faith the Tigers can turn things around, so much so that he believes the Tigers will win the ACC.

“They’re not one of the best four or five rosters," Meyer said. "I still think they’re going to go to the playoffs. I think they’re going to win the ACC, but they’re not a national championship team."

Meyer said he doesn't think Clemson can get back to the mountaintop until they get NIL and roster management going with the transfer portal. Clemson and head coach Dabo Swinney have been under scrutiny all offseason with how he uses the transfer portal.

Swinney hasn't embraced the transfer portal like other schools. In fact, Clemson lost 13 players to the portal this past offseason and didn't sign any.

Since 2019, Clemson has only signed three players from the portal, and one of those players was returning to the Tigers after transferring to another school for three seasons.
