It was the one thing John Mara didn't want to see happen when he saw the New York Giants decide against bringing Saquon Barkley back during free agency.

On Friday night in Brazil, Mara's worst fears were realized.

Barkley accounted for over 130 total yards and three touchdowns in his debut with the Philadelphia Eagles - helping them knock off the Green Bay Packers, 34-29.

Making things even more awful for the Giants was the way Barkley looked.

Behind a top offensive line that averaged over four yards a carry, Barkley ran through massive holes throughout Friday's contest against an elite defense the year prior.

Something the Giants failed to do in his six years with the team previously.

It also doesn't help that the Giants owner made his thoughts on Barkley leaving for Philadelphia clear during the offseason edition of Hard Knocks.

“I’ll have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia, I’ll tell you that,” Mara stated to Giants general manager Joe Schoen.

Barkley is now in Philadelphia despite Mara's concern. And he looks better than he has in years - another moment of the Giants not doing enough to put the best players on the field at all times.
