Fans Loving Kirk Herbstreit's Heartwarming Social Media Post Before Texas-Michigan

ESPN's beloved "College GameDay" analyst Kirk Herbstreit has consistently been outshined every Saturday by the same individual.

That individual happens to be his dog, Ben, who travels to seemingly every game with him. The 10-year-old golden retriever often brightens the day of everyone he encounters. However, this past week, Herbstreit revealed that Ben was diagnosed with leukemia in March and had major surgery in July.

So, Ben being able to travel with him is even more of a treat.

Ahead of Saturday's September 7 matchup between No. 3 Texas and No. 10 Michigan, Herbstreit shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of he and Ben in the car and fans are loving it.

"He’s a star," wrote one fan.

"Looking good Ben," added another.

Benny Boy is ready for some football!!! Such a good boy 🐶❤️," commented another fan.

Herbstreit got candid about Ben traveling with him despite his health issues last week, expressing that he feels that being able to socialize helps Ben heal even more.

"Honestly, I think being out and seeing people on the road really helps his spirit and gives him something to look forward to," Herbstreit said on X. "Will keep a very close eye on him and react accordingly. He had a GREAT week 1. Taking it one week at a time."

Fans are hopeful that Ben has another great week and that the matchup between Texas and Michigan lives up to the hype. According to ESPN, Texas is a 6.5-point favorite despite playing at the "Big House" in Ann Arbor.
