Kani Walker spent some time this week talking about how much depth there is in the Oklahoma secondary room and how that’s motivated him to continually work on his game. Here’s more from Kani.

Did Saturday night feel like a culmination of your transformation from when you first got here to now?

Kani: I can agree with you. I feel like I had a lot of stuff to overcome off the field and on the field that my guys, teammates and coaches helped me with…Yeah, it’s coming to display. We ain’t done, job’s not done.

It looks like there’s a lot of competition in the cornerback room. It seems like the depth right now is about as good as it’s been in awhile.

Kani: Our depth is crazy. We’ve got guys that can literally go anywhere and start day one. And that helps me get better because I know those guys are good…Your spot can be gone so it always keeps you on your toes.

What’s been the key to your development?

Kani: Figuring out everything I had to [address] off the field. I had to mature a lot…I feel like everything off the field translates to everything on the field. Shoot, I had some mental battles I had to face. I had to get over them for myself. It just helped me keep a clear mind.
