Kirk Herbstreit Gives His Dog New Nickname At Texas-Michigan Game

Kirk Herbstreit is attending the Texas-Michigan game on Saturday as "College GameDay" visited the Wolverines in Week 2. However, Herbstreit's dog Ben stole the spotlight after the popular college football analyst shared a new nickname for his pup.

Right before kickoff, Herbstreit shared a picture of himself and Ben on the sideline. The sports analyst held a badge that gave his dog access on the field.

He then left the caption, "Working Dog," giving his dog a new nickname , as the badge signifies that Ben is technically working. So, Ben is busy at work on Saturday during the Texas-Michigan game.

What a good boy! Ben definitely looks like he's taking the job very seriously. He might earn a promotion if he keeps up this effort. Jokes aside, it's cool to see Herbstreit continue to bring his dog around the country with him during the college football season.

In Week 1, Ben made an appearance in the USC-LSU game as he was seen in the booth with Herbstreit and Rece Davis. There were several shots of Ben laying on the ground or walking around while Herbstreit and Davis called the game.

Herbstreit and Davis are not calling the Texas-Michigan game. Instead, it's being called by Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt. Herbstreit and Davis will be calling the game between Tennessee and NC State at 7:30 P.M. Eastern on ESPN.

Herbstreit recently revealed in August that Ben had been diagnosed with leukemia during a guest appearance on "The Brett Boone Podcast." As of now, Ben is okay after having an operation to remove masses.

"Ben is always ready. We've had a tough offseason. I haven't really told anybody this, he got diagnosed with leukemia and most recently had to have an operation where they had to take a couple of masses. They had to open him up and took out his spleen where there was a mass and then another mass on his intestine, which is a pretty big procedure when you're 10 years old."

Hopefully, we get to see Ben make appearances well beyond the 2024 college football season. He's become a fan favorite over the years. Herbstreit first showed his dog back in November 2021 on "College GameDay."
