Mahomes On Win vs. Ravens: 'It's A Game Of Inches!'

    By Adam Schultz,

The Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious 27-20 at Arrowhead Stadium in their AFC Championship rematch with the Baltimore Ravens in a game that will be remembered for its final few plays.

With Lamar Jackson driving down the field to tie the game in the fourth quarter, he missed a wide-open Zay Flowers in the end zone (which he later revealed wasn't meant for Zay). Then, a few plays later, as time expired, Lamar found Isaiah Likely for a touchdown (or so we thought), only for the second-year tight end to have the end of his toes on the back of the endzone line, which meant it was ruled incomplete.

And Patrick Mahomes knew how close his team came to a potential loss with Ravens head coach John Harbaugh signaling to go for two after Likely scored.

"Obviously, it was nerve-racking," Mahomes said via NBC . "It's a game of inches, that's what they say. That's a great football team, to come out and get a win at Arrowhead, it's a way to start off the season."

The Chiefs have gotten off to a good start in their Super Bowl defense, and while most of the eyes go toward the final few plays, Kansas City's Xavier Worthy had a big say in the proceedings, too.

The rookie had one rushing attempt for 21 yards and a touchdown while having two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown, as his blazing speed was on show numerous times.

Rashee Rice (7 rec, 103 yards) was also a big factor in the win as Kansas City again showed they have the Ravens' number again (5-1 under Mahomes).

But we know how close the defending champs came to a potential loss ... it was inches.
