After Angel Reese's heartbreaking announcement of her season-ending injury, the Chicago Sky made sure to show the young All-Star their support.

On Saturday, September 7, Reese confirmed that she will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to a wrist injury.

"I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next," Reese wrote on social media, while also promising that she will continue to cheer for the Sky from the sidelines.

Chicago's social media account responded to Reese's post by sharing three blue heart emojis in a show of support.

The Sky put the rookie forward on the injury report earlier in the day because of the wrist injury, tagging her as questionable. With that said, it definitely came as a surprise when Angel Reese said she had played her last game this campaign.

For what it's worth, the team issued a statement on why Reese had to sit out their last six regular season games (and potentially the playoffs should they qualify). Apparently, they conducted additional "medical evaluation" that deemed it necessary for her to be sidelined.

"After undergoing further medical evaluation after the September 6 game against Los Angeles, Angel Reese has been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season with a wrist injury, the team announced today," the Sky's statement read.

"The team will provide medical updates later as needed."

Details about the exact nature of Reese's injury are scarce. More information should come out as the Sky conduct more tests on her injury. It is also unknown if Reese will require surgery or not.

For now, the Sky and their fans can only hope for the best when it comes to Reese's recovery.

Reese finished the season averaging 13.6 points and a league-leading 13.1 rebounds per game. In 34 games played, she set the record for the most rebounds in a season in WNBA history (446) and most consecutive double-doubles (15), among many other accolades.
