Bruins' Elias Lindholm Drops Shade on the City of Boston

New Boston Bruins forward Elias Lindholm is settling into life in his new city after signing a seven-year, $54.25 million contract in July.

While he’s enjoying most aspects of Boston, Lindholm recently shared a lighthearted complaint about one thing he’s struggling to adapt to: the city’s notorious traffic. He shared his thoughts about it with reporters at the Bruins captain practice on September 5.

“It’s [traffic] a little different than I’m used to. I’m not a huge fan, but I’ll get through it,” Lindholm said.

The 29-year-old Swede, who has been in Boston for a month now, was quick to clarify that beyond the traffic, he’s having a great time exploring and settling into his new home.

“The weather has been nice. The city’s been really nice to explore and settle into our place… So far, so good,” Lindholm added.

Lindholm joined the Bruins after a year split between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, where he scored 15 goals and 29 assists across 75 regular-season games.

While he struggled to find his form in Vancouver during the regular season, Lindholm turned things around in the playoffs, scoring 10 points in 13 games after he stayed put in Canada following rumors linking him to Boston around the trade deadline.

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney expressed confidence that Lindholm will thrive in Boston, especially in a top-line role alongside the team's other elite players. The GM did so addressing reporters in July and discussing his franchise's offseason additions.

"It’s a new opportunity for him," Sweeney said, via Conor Ryan of Boston.com . "He kind of didn’t play the role he fits, I feel like. So here I feel like he can come back to the version he was in Calgary with the top line and top penalty kill and everything.

"He’s a really good addition and I’m really excited to have him on my team, for sure."
