Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a rocky start to his 2024-25 NFL campaign after being arrested and subsequently released Sunday morning in Miami, Florida, ahead of the Dolphins’ Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars .

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington , Hill was cited for reckless driving after being pulled over for speeding on his way to the stadium.

The situation escalated when Hill and a police officer had a verbal altercation, leading to Hill being detained and placed in handcuffs. A video of the incident, which occurred outside Hard Rock Stadium, quickly surfaced online.

Drew Rosenhaus , Tyreek Hill's agent, stated that his client intends to play in the Dolphins' home opener despite the controversy, with high expectations surrounding a team brimming with talent. Rosenhaus said they were extremely "distraught" about the entire situation. He added that it was "completely unnecessary."

Hill has been one of the NFL’s top receivers over the past several seasons, and his impact is crucial to the Dolphins' success. He was ranked No. 1 on the NFL Top 100 entering this season.
