Skip Bayless Takes Major Shot at Dak Prescott After Cowboys Payday

Dallas Cowboys superfan Skip Bayless didn't hold back his criticism of Dak Prescott after the quarterback inked a record-setting four-year extension just hours before Sunday's kickoff.

Prescott and the Cowboys have been negotiating for months but agreed to the deal just hours before Dallas kicked off its season with a Week 1 clash against the Cleveland Browns.

The four-year extension is worth a whopping $240 million , including $231 million guaranteed. The deal makes Prescott the highest-paid player in NFL history. The annual value ($60 million per season) and guaranteed money are new high marks in the NFL.

Most would say Prescott deserved the contract. He topped the NFL in completions (410) and touchdown passes (36) last season, amassing 4,516 passing yards. But Bayless isn't sure Prescott has the championship pedigree like some of the franchise's legendary passers.

"Dak Prescott is a great guy.. I just don't think he's a great quaterback in the mold of Staubach or Aikman," Bayless said. "But ... now I have no choice but to root like crazy for him. GO, DAK. BEAT THE BROWNS."

It came down to the wire but the Cowboys got a deal done with Prescott. He had expressed that he wanted something in place before Week 1.

Prescott has helped lead them to three consecutive 12-win seasons, although playoff success has been his bugaboo. Prescott is just 2-5 in postseason play.

"With Dak Prescott leading my team, we were down 27-0 as the 2 seed in a home playoff game the last time the Dallas Cowboys played," Bayless added. "Dak's reward: biggest contract in NFL history."

Overall, Prescott has a 73-41 record as the Cowboys starting quarterback.
