On Sunday morning, just hours before the Dallas Cowboys 2024 season opener against the Cleveland Browns, owner Jerry Jones made his quarterback, Dak Prescott, the richest man in the NFL.

Dak signed a four-year, $240M extension, which includes $231M guaranteed. His guaranteed money is also the highest in league history, surpassing his Week 1 opponent, Deshaun Watson, who was guaranteed $230M.

The former Mississippi State star will make an average of $60M per year, more than the next highest of $55M from the Bengals' Joe Burrow, the Packers' Jordan Love and the Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence.

Shortly after the big announcement, the Cowboys took to social media to congratulate their star. They did so by giving him a new nickname in a post about his pregame outfit.

"Man with the bag," the Cowboys wrote on X with a briefcase emoji.

The bag represents not only the suitcases he is carrying in the video but the new contract he signed as well.

In a short span, the Cowboys have now secured their future on offense with Dak and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who recently signed a four-year, $136M extension. Next up on Jerry's bucket list will be to secure his top defender, edge rusher Micah Parsons. But that will likely not come until next offseason.

Prescott finished 2023 with 4,516 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has led Dallas to the playoffs in the last three seasons but has failed to make a run. In the Wild Card round last year, Prescott and the Cowboys were upset by Love and the Packers, getting dominated on both sides of the ball.
