Packers Have Reportedly Contacted Pro Bowl QB

The Green Bay Packers are searching for a new signal caller following an injury to Jordan Love.

The franchise quarterback is believed to have injured his MCL in the Packers' recent 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. According to ESPN, Love is pending further testing, but he is expected to miss some time at the start of the season.

Given the Packers' need for a new quarterback, they have reportedly contacted Pro Bowl QB Ryan Tannehill. Green Bay reached out to Tannehill, but there is no deal in place, per Dianna Russini, an NFL insider for The Athletic.

Green Bay currently has Malik Willis, who was traded from the Titans in the offseason, backing up Love at quarterback.

Tannehill is 36 years old. He was a backup to Will Levis in Tennessee last season but is no longer rostered. After beginning his career with the Miami Dolphins, he spent five seasons with the Titans.

The veteran quarterback would be able to bring experience, having played in the league from 2012-23.

In his last season as a full-time starter, 2022, Tannehill produced 13 touchdowns and 2,536 yards with a 65.2 completion percentage.

As Russini reported, Tannehill and his party mentioned that the situation would have to be right for him to come back to the NFL.

The Packers are a team that came into the year with Super Bowl hopes, having a solid football team on all three levels of the game.

Tannehill would be able to play behind an experienced offensive line, with a couple of promising young receivers in Jayden Reed and Christian Watson.
