Stephen A. Smith Goes Off on Viral Rant Over Tyreek Hill's Police Treatment

In one of many major storylines leading up to Sunday's Week 1 NFL kickoffs, Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill was detained and released by Miami police on his drive to the stadium.

According to ESPN insider Jeff Darlington , "Hill was cited for reckless driving as a result of his incident outside the stadium with police. After he was pulled over, he got into a verbal altercation with police. The officer chose to place Hill in handcuffs."

In response to up-close video of Hill's detainment circulating on social media, Stephen A. Smith went off on a fiery rant about the treatment the 30-year-old wideout received from the local authorities.

"Look for yourself," Smith wrote on X before drawing a comparison to the arrest of world No. 1-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler before the PGA Championship on May 17.

Smith continued, "This is b.s. Totally unnecessary. And btw…., I know the Scottie Scheffler incident was in Georgia — not Florida — and he was arrested, detained, booked. I also know we don’t know all the details, blah….blah…..blah! But he wasn’t faced down on the ground in cuffs? Then forcibly sat down again by officers a second time. Nah! This story isn’t going away — and it doesn’t need to."

Smith's post was viewed over 1 million times in its first three hours.

The viral post was preceded by a similar X message from Smith , in which he exclaimed, "Hell No! Excessive! Wrong! Again, this ain't going away."
