'I Want to Be a Cop!' Tyreek 'Handcuffs' Himself After TD

Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill was detained and reportedly handcuffed on Sunday morning before the Week 1 game against the Jags in an incident that occurred a block away from the stadium.

Miami police say Hill, a chief rival of the Jets, was confrontational when pulled over for speeding. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has countered by calling the incident - which featured Hill being placed face-down on the street - "heartbreaking."

Rosenhaus also insisted that Hill told the police he wants to join the force in the future.

"Tyreek has told me over and over, he’s a big supporter of police,'' the agent said. "He was telling the police there, 'I want to be a police officer in the future.''

While Rosenhaus terms it "heartbreaking,'' Hill somehow thinks it's amusing ... as evidenced by his touchdown celebration on Sunday when he scored ... and then placed his own hands behind his back.

The Miami Dolphins have released a statement in reaction to an incident involving wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the police early Sunday. ... with some critics of the law enforcement action - which included handcuffing the player after he was pulled over outside of Hard Rock Stadium for a traffic violation just before reporting for Week 1 game day - skipping over what reportedly triggered the conflict.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington is reporting that Hill "got into a verbal altercation with police."

Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus is expressing outrage over the detention and hancuffing of his client, claiming it was "only for a traffic violation.''

But Rosenhaus isn't telling the whole (alleged) story.

From the Dolphins: "This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game.''

That's fine that he's playing. We think.

That's grand that teammates tried to help. ... except once Hill got into an "altercation'' (allegedly) they had no place there, as it became a police matter.

And when Rosenhaus tells Darlington that the incident is "heartbreaking''? He's right ... but maybe not in the way he thinks he is.

The question is about the series of events that led to the handcuffing. Is Hill - who has a history of clashes with the law - the one who turned "a routine traffic stop'' into an "altercation''?

"How things escalated ... in handcuffs and being held on the ground with police is mind-boggling to me," Rosenhaus said in defense of his client, who last year led the NFL in receiving yards, finishing the season with 119 receptions, 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns. ... and again, who is slated to play for the Dolphins as they host Jacksonville at 1 p.m. ET in Week 1.
