Longtime Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current NFL commentator Tony Romo delivered a heartfelt message to his broadcast partner, Jim Nantz, during the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders game on Sunday, September 8.

Romo, who has shared the booth with Nantz since 2017, took a moment to reflect on Nantz’s incredible career and express his admiration.

"I want to let everyone know out there that the all-time great sitting next to me, play-by-play Jim Nantz, is doing his 20th year with CBS football games," said Romo. "You've only gotten better and better each year."

Nantz is widely regarded as one of the greatest sportscasters of this generation, with a broadcasting career spanning decades.

Nantz has demonstrated remarkable versatility throughout his career, covering a wide range of sports, including the NFL, college basketball and the Masters golf tournament, where his voice has become known with many significant moments in the sport.

Romo and Nantz have become a fan-favorite duo in the booth, despite some controversy. In 2020, a report from Andrew Marchand claimed that Nantz was demanding "Tony Romo money" after CBS originally hired Romo.

The amount Nantz was reportedly referring to was Romo’s contract extension, valued at $180 million over a decade.

However, Nantz recently addressed these claims on Marchand’s podcast on September 5, denying the rumors.

"That said, ‘Nantz is demanding Romo money' I swear on my life I never did that," said Nantz. "Nor did I ever demand. It sounded like I came in and put my fist down, ‘I want Romo money!’ I never said that.”

Despite the reported controversy, Romo and Nantz remain one of the most beloved broadcasting duos in sports, with Romo clearly enjoying working alongside Nantz.
