Carolina Panthers fans are not happy following a 28-6 blowout loss to the division rival New Orleans Saints to open the 2024 season.

It seemed like the only path for Carolina was up following a 2-15 season in 2023. Dave Canales was hired as head coach out of Tampa Bay in place of Frank Reich. Former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young was expected to take a stride in Year 2.

But the Panthers looked dismal in Sunday's season opener. Young threw an interception in his very first pass of the year. He went on to complete just 13-of-30 passes for for 161 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The former Alabama star rarely had time to set his feet, though, as Carolina allowed four sacks on the day.

Defensively, New Orleans and quarterback Derek Carr had their way in Caesars Superdome. Carr completed 19-of-23 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns to zero interceptions, leading the Saints offense to 379 yards on the day.

It seems like the Panthers still resemble the team that lost 15 games a year ago, according to country music superstar Luke Combs. The Huntersville, North Carolina, native tweeted a somber message following the disappointing start to the season.

"New year, same old Panthers," Luke wrote. "Absolutely gruesome to watch."

The Panthers will play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) in the home opener next Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS).
