The 55th Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race on July 4 will feature a showdown between two of the world’s top road racers.

Kenyan Sabastian Sawe, ranked #1 globally in road racing from 10K to half marathon, will make his Peachtree debut. The 29-year-old World Half Marathon Champion has a 26:49 personal best in the 10K.

Sawe will face countryman Daniel Ebenyo, 28. It’s a rematch of the 2023 World Half Marathon Championships , where Sawe narrowly beat Ebenyo.

In the women’s race, 24-year-old Emmaculate Anyango of Kenya leads the field with a 28:57 personal best. She’ll be challenged by Jesca Chelangat, last year’s runner-up.

The Shepherd Center Wheelchair Division features Daniel Romanchuk, aiming for a record seventh consecutive win. He’ll compete against six-time Paralympian Aaron Pike and two-time champion Josh Cassidy.

    More Peachtree coverage is here.

Susannah Scaroni returns to defend her title in the women’s wheelchair race, seeking her fourth Peachtree victory since 2018.

New this year is an Elite High School Division, showcasing top young Georgia runners.

The world’s largest 10K will be livestreamed for the first time on AJC.com and the AJC News app from 6-10 a.m., with Lewis Johnson, Carrie Tollefson, and Amanda McGrory leading the broadcast.

“The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race is one of the most exciting traditions in the city, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring that energy to participants and spectators,” said Andrew Morse, president and publisher of the AJC.

The 6.2-mile course runs from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park, attracting 50,000 runners and triple that in spectators. Elite runners will compete for a $70,000 purse, with $12,500 for first place in each professional division.
