    Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones cleared a big hurdle on Wednesday when he was declared good to go for 11-on-11 drills as he works his way back from last season's torn ACL.

On Thursday, it was Atlanta Falcons' fans turn for good news, as head coach Raheem Morris told reporters that signal-caller Kirk Cousins was given the go ahead as he returns from last year's torn Achilles.

Jones missed Weeks 6, 7 and 8 due to a neck injury last season and then suffered his year-ending injury during his return to action in Week 9.

Cousins went down with his season-ending ailment in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 29.

Atlanta signed Cousins to a four-year, $180M contract in March and the four-time Pro Bowler was able to practice with few limitations during spring organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp.

Cousins threw for over 4,000 yards and at least 29 touchdowns in three straight years before 2023 and was leading the NFL in touchdown passes with 18 when he suffered his Achilles injury.

The Falcons are expected to begin the season with rookie Michael Penix Jr. as Cousins' backup after shockingly selecting the Heisman Trophy runner-up with the eighth overall pick in April.
