Falcons TE Kyle Pitts Named Most Likely To Improve In 2024

With the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Florida star tight end, Kyle Pitts. It was a selection that was made to make the offense a more explosive unit.

Kyle Pitts presents a lot of advantages for the Falcons’ offense given his combination of size and athleticism. During his rookie season, he produced at a high clip, catching 68 passes for 1,026 yards but only one touchdown.

That was enough for him to earn a spot on the Pro Bowl team. Unfortunately for the Falcons, replicating that level of production has not occurred in the following two seasons.

In 2022, injuries derailed Kyle Pitts, as he appeared in only 10 games. Last season, his lack of production can be attributed to the play calling and offensive game plan not featuring him nearly enough alongside Drake London and Bijan Robinson.

As a result, Pitts has caught only 81 passes for 1,023 yards in 27 games. That is underwhelming production for a player who was selected as high as he was.

But, as we prepare for the 2024 regular season, brighter days could certainly be on the horizon. A new coaching staff is in place as Raheem Morris is taking over for Arthur Smith. Zac Robinson, who was praised for his work with the Los Angeles Rams, is now the offensive coordinator.

Those are all reasons why Anthony DiBona of Pro Football Network believes that Kyle Pitts is in for a huge 2024. He recently named the Falcons’ tight end as one of the players likely to improve the most this season.

Being used properly will determine how much the Florida product breaks out. Smith deployed him way too often as a blocker, failing to take advantage of his unique skill set as a pass catchers.

Kyle Pitts can be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. He is big enough to dominate smaller players and too athletic for most linebackers to keep up with.

It would not be surprising to see the Falcons deploy him at wide receiver for stretches, as he is more than capable of handling it. Having Kirk Cousins under center is also a massive upgrade, as all of these ingredients could result in a career season.
