Former Pittsburgh Steelers second-round pick and wide receiver James Washington once looked like a promising young wideout early in his career after posting a solid sophomore campaign in 2019.

That season, Washington tallied a career-high 735 receiving yards to go along with three touchdowns. Those numbers were good enough for first and tied for second among Steelers pass-catchers.

However, things have gone south since then, with Washington never having matched what he did during his second season in the NFL. Washington wasn't brought back after his fourth season in Pittsburgh in 2021.

Washington's career has been non-existent since. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 but appeared in just two games, seeing 15 snaps on offense and 13 snaps on special teams. He saw just one target and didn't record a catch before being cut loose.

He has since spent time with the New York Giants , New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts , but didn't see the field for any of them.

But Washington resurfaced on Tuesday, with the veteran wideout signing with the Atlanta Falcons , according to the team's official website .

We'll see if Washington can revive his once-promising career in Atlanta, but based on what we've seen in recent years, that isn't likely to happen.
